Ian Fisher writes: The cycle continues as the latest popular video game destined to become a major motion picture is EA’s sci-fi horror game "Dead Space". This project seems to be a bit farther along than EA’s other film ventures such as "Army of Two", "Dante’s Inferno", and "The Sims" as a director has already been attached to the project. D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) will be directing the film and this won’t be his first time working on a video game project as he is also directing the Masi Oka MMO adventure film "Defender."

Notoriously noxious metal lords Gwar top the lineup of bands playing EA’s "Brütal Legend Metal Meltdown" concert in San Diego, Calif., on the evening of July 23. (That’s the first night of San Diego Comic-Con, which runs July 23 through 26 at the nearby San Diego Convention Center.)
The costumed comedy shock-rockers will be joined by Canadian metal act 3 Inches of Blood, all-grrl thrashers Unholy Pink and Black Flag co-founder Keith Morris.

Kotaku: Brutal Legend is looking awesome, but as of yet, it’s only confirmed to be appearing on Xbox 360 and PS3. What about this generation’s ugly stepsister, the PC?
In a break from EA’s recent policy, which has seen titles like Mirror’s Edge and Dead Space arrive on the PC, Tim Schafer’s heavy metal adventure won’t be. At least not initially.

OXM UK writes: "EA is considering adding button-mapped controls to Fight Night Round 4 via DLC.
As it stands, the only way to play Fight Night Round 4 is using the analogue sticks to swing punches. However, producer Brian Hayes says "there is no option for face button punching in the final version, but we are investigating providing the option via DLC."
If he means free DLC, that would be fine. If you ended up having to pay for the option to use button-mapped controls, it’s exactly the sort of thing that will whip the internet into a frenzy and unleash their hatred EA’s way. To say it wouldn’t be the smartest of moves would be an understatement…"

Few games make the process of throwing and landing a punch as satisfying as Fight Night Round 4. Knowing that you have timed the angle of your fist to catch your opponent so sweetly their head reels back with the force is a constant joy.
Back in 2004 EA introduced Total Punch Control, a system that replicated the shape of a jab, hook, uppercut or cross depending on how you moved the right analogue stick. …
