Developer The Behemoth has announced that their XBLA title Castle Crashers is nearing 950,000 users and thus the cutoff for it’s ‘countdown to a million’ challenge issued to fans of the game.

Brightfalls.net, an Alan Wake fan news site officially sanctioned (and hosted) by developer Remedy, has been out of commission for all of 2009. The site has just popped back up, leading one conspiracy-minded Alan Wake forum poster, "shorty," to conjecture that the site is back up in anticipation of some Alan Wake news. Specifically, "that Alan Wake will be shown at E3 on Monday!"
The theories of one guy on a forum may not be enough to base a rumor on, but the following post makes Joystiq think something really may be happening. Remedy staffer and forum administrator JoukoRMD responded to that post with "Well, maybe (brightfalls.net site lead) ADM has that feeling too, and thus brought back brightfalls.net," ending with a
emoticon.

Damn, Rockstar is full of surprises. Who could have guessed that the developer’s franchise – built on gritty crime, bloody violence, hardened characters and grossly exaggerated stereotypes – would debut an entry with words like “ballad” and “gay” right in the title? When the first downloadable content starred leather-clad biker gangs listening to classic rock, who could foresee a second expansion’s logo …

To promote the next set of downloadable content for F.E.A.R. 2, developer Monolith has released a sequel trailer to Miniature Replica Soldier.
Due to be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 today, the ‘Armoured Front’ pack, which is priced at 560 Microsoft Points, includes two new multiplayer maps and four new skins originally available with the Special Edition version of the game.

Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios has served three months notice to around 20 employees, GamesIndustry.biz can reveal.
The development of Just Cause 2 for Eidos and The Hunter for Emote games will not be affected, with CEO Christofer Sundberg confirming that a third project is in development at the studio.
"It is a difficult business climate, but this is not nearly on the scale of the redundancies last year," said Sunberg, referring to the laying off of staff last October.
